For more information on Volvos of any vintage, check out http://www.brickboard.com. My '83 240 has 192500 mi. on the odometer and still looks good and runs fine. My concern about the newer Volvos is the build quality (or lack thereof). Five cent items go bad and cost hundreds to repair. They are all front wheel drive as well.

But when I really want to get a headrush, I take the '95 E320 for a spin on the highway. :-)

You should consider maybe a Passat Variant V6 with Tiptronic Shift. Heaps of room and vroom. Front drive you say, but I would seriously doubt (no offence) if most people would notice. Despite having traction control, this device hardly kicks in at all!

I think your Dad should go and have a drive in some of the FWD cars. I think he will be plesantly surprised, unless of course he still likes his power oversteers!
