I'm in the middle of replacing my alternator, but I can't get the belt off. Everything else is loose and ready to go... can anybody give me any tips?

Unscrew the nut of the tensioner (on top/front of the engine), push the bolt back, lower the tensioner, pull the multibelt to lower the tensioner more and take off the multibelt...
greetingz,

Theres two things holding the belt on, I probably should have said before. Theres a tensioner? and theres a spring. We loosened the tensioner, but the spring is still holding on, and it can't be loosened. Is there something else?

...NO...there is nothing else...
I don't know the english terms for the parts, but the tensioner ("spanner") holds a "spanrol" (the additional pulley that pulls the multibelt) and the spring holds to non-bolted pins. You have to manually force the tensioner and "spanrol" to loosen up...by push/pulling the multibelt greetingz,

You could also just replace the brushes and see if that fixes the alernator problem.
