Some Tech Has to know whats going on.
 

After long hours of reasearch on the web, and finding alot of "wont start" problems on these cars. My situation must be unique. Its a 96 c280. It started by me driving the car to my house, car was fine. Getting back into it, it wouldnt start. You would hear one click from the starter. I took the starter out and it was completely dead. Put a new one in and nothin. No click, nothing. Then i found that the main power wire coming through the car under the gas petal area was rusted allmost completey off of its wire lug. So, i put a new lug on there and still nothing, i checked (v) at the starter on the main power wire and im getting 12. Where is the starter relay? And wtf is that capacitor looking thing under the gas petal where the 12v gets distributed to the rest of the car?

If you can start the engne with the gear selector in 'neutral', then do a search for neutral safety switch.
