electrical problems lights

I have a beloved 300td 1985 , it had gotten hit before I owned it, and I put on new right headlight , fender bumper etc. Since I had it fixed , the following is going on. If I drive in the day without lights on it runs fine, the indoor lights and hazard ,blinkers dont work. If I drive at night with the head lights on , my instrument panel shows both green blinkers on constant, my needles for the gages bounce back and forth. When I turn car then , it will not restart with out a jump. I noticed under the hood on left side is a black plastic relay box, but not on the right , but the fender show a space for one Am I missing one ?. It was told it was the battery with a bad cell. I replaced it and still have some problem. Fuses were check and fine. Please help !!

check your grounds. could be loose/corroded/open. also do a diag on the alternator. do you have to jump off the car after a few days of night driving? then could be alt. have it checked

electrical problems

Hello, If I use the lights at night at all, even briefly when I shut the car off, it will need a jump start. Not to mention the blinkers, indoor lights not working at all. When I drive at night the dash shows the green lights of the blinders on and when I slow down or go over a bump they flicker on and off . I may have more than one problem I dont know ... where and how do I find the ground if loose ?   :juggle: :juggle: :nos:

You may have more than one issue, but it sounds like you have a short someplace that is draining down your battery when you use the headlights. Can you take a look at the wiring to the headlights and make sure you don't have any bare spots, a pinched wire, etc? Does the car need a jump if you just use the parking lights, or is it just the headlights (this may help narrow it down)?

You may have to do some troubleshooting with an Amp meter, or by removing one fuse at a time to see if the symptoms go away. Do you have a wiring diagram for your car, you're probably going to need one?

The problem is the same with parking or headlights . No I do not have a wiring plan. Where would I get one for a 1985 300 td. Thanks
