Adding Express Windows...

I want express windows on all four windows... up AND down. I only have express up on the front two.
Can I do this? What would I need? 4 new window switches... a new relay? How extensive is this?

(I know you can help me with this MBenz!)

Excuse me Kuan! That was very rude! (hehe, JK) I was replying to it to keep it at the top, for your information! And now I'm doing it again!

BTW: You got me all excited that someone had replied with some USEFUL information!!! That was mean! Ha, actually, I'm just playing, I don't want you to think I'm serious.

And for the record, you call it "ADDING ANOTHER POST TO MY MANY MANY, GROWING POSTS PER DAY AVERAGE"

Hey, I'm unemployed. Send the money you will spend on the windows to me. I promise to use it for a good cause. Mine.
:D :D :D

Anyway, unless there is an aftermarket kit, using factory parts would be extremely cost prohibitive. You would need, Convienence module, rear window motors with hall effect sensors, 4 new switches, and the wiring harness to wire all of it up.
And I'm sure you could buy a small island with the labor cost to do this. :D :D

David C Klasse 03-29-2001 07:56 PM

Scott,
That is not what I want to hear! Since you seem to have some time on your hands, why don't you do some research and get me a good deal or something!

Hey David,

I think you better start looking for the next possible mod...

The later, after "97, C classes have express windows on all four windows. I guess that you want to know whether you can retrofit these into your car??? The right answer is NO.

If your car is a late 95 it has the switches of the windows and power mirrors combined under the panel. The wire harness (some 35-40 wires) goes partly to the relay (windows and roof) in the trunk behind the battery. From this relay the wires go to the doors and in these doors the wires go directly to the motors.

On the later C classes the panel that combines the power window and mirror switches and the trunk release button has a connector with 6 wires only....These wires go to the doors and in each door is a separate relay to control the window (and mirror)...

So to retrofit this system in your car, you would need a different panel with switches, a different wire harness, 4 additional relays, 2 new window motors for the rear doors and a lot of luck to get all windows, mirrors and roof working as they should.

It is easier to push the button a little longer...

Oh well... :(
Just another something I thought I might be able to do. There is SO much more involved than I expected.
Thanks anyway Scott and MBenz (What is your name again?)

I've just installed them into my W126 coupe

I've just installed 3 DEI express window modules for full one-touch up and down window operation. Also, the third (and slightly different module) was for the sunroof. From the alarm's remote control, I hit one button and the windows all roll up, the sunroof closes, the locks engage and the alarm is armed.

HOWEVER, you do NOT need to have an alarm system to have the DEI 530T system to operate your windows for one-touch up and down operation.

David, it can be done. Search benzsport for automatic sunroof.

Randall posted a way to do it, but you do so at your own risk.

I think this post dates backs about 6 months! I decided against it then. Not worth it...
Someone just replied to it bring it back up! :)

Roll up windows from the key lock...

I actually took this a step further...I tied into the factory Becker alarm system with my aftermarket wireless alarm. Now, when you arm the alarm with the wireless remote, BOTH alarms arm. Also, when you insert a key into the driver's, passenger's or trunk lock and twist, you can roll up the windows for as long as you keep the key turned...just like the new cars (that's why I had to tie into the factory Becker alarm module).

I have never been beaten in a drivers side power window race with my trusty 81 SD "Goldie" The closest was a 95 crown vic x cop car and I beat it by a good two inchs......(never too old to race)
