I recently had the cable replaced on my 1984 190E and now the speedometer jumps until about 35MPH. Anyone know an easy fix?

Thanks

The cable may be binding up or is kinked. The speedo itself could be the problem.

If the jumping started after the cable was replaced, the cable is kinked or routed wrong. If the cable is pulled/pushed too much during the installation, it may even be possible you need another new cable. The speedo cable cannot handle a lot of pushing/pulling.

If you had the cable replaced at a shop, I would take the car back and have them correct it. As Mbenz stated, the cable could be misrouted or was subjected to too much bending/pulling/tugging, which may have damaged it. The replacement cables are built to exact length, so they have to be routed along the exact path the original was. Not terribly difficult to do yourself, just a pain due to the tight quarters and trying to be careful.
