I know, I know...it is normal when it is cold...live with it. Well, I have done a lot of research on the web to understand the cold shifting nature of the 190E 2.6. I have come to the conclusion that yes mine does exhibit some of the normal patterns. However, It also has some typical sysmptoms that can be remedied...I need to know how to replace the vacuum modulator. I have a new one, the old one was leaking. How do I put this think in with out messing the trans up. It came with a warning pamphlet about how I should adjust it before driving...but doesn't explain how to adjust it. I need the 4 year old explaination...I am good with repair, bad with transmissions.

help a first timer here.

Chris:

I'd love to help but, I'm not a tech. I strongly recommend you wait for one of the techs to read this one. Transmissions are expensive!!! I sometimes have a little abrupt 3-4 shift and I tried to adjust it after reading a post on a similar situation. The car shifted extremely hard after!!! I took it to the dealer and told them I'm an idiot and they turned a few screws and done!!! I left the car running!!! (Mercedes-Benz of London, Ontario, Canada = friendly and honest!!!)

I'd love to hear how it comes out since I also have a 2.6
How does your car shift now?

Best of luck and be careful!!!!
