Bouncy 560SEL rear end

My 1991 560SEL bounces as if its rear shocks are worn. Can someone recommend he best replacements, or if someone has had a similar issue and has learned that the shocks are not at issue, can you please let me know?

Sounds like the accumulators (2) need replacement.

I thought symptoms of failed accumulators is extremely harsh ride, as if there aren't any shocks at all???

It starts as bouncy and progresses to rock hard if ignored long enough.

Easy job...if you plan on keeping the car for a good long while I'd go w/ the Genuine accumulators over the AM's.

It's also a great time to flush the system.. I also like to drop a 123 wagon SLS filter inside the current filter screen.

Does anyone know off hand if the 123 and 126 SLS systems utilize the same filter? I 'spose I could look it up real quick, but I'm feeling lazy tonight. Busy packing for another road trip.

No, they are different.. The 560's just use a washable screen where there 123's had an actual paper element. I've found the 123 element will drop in the 126 screen so I wager the added extra filtration (however minor) won't hurt.

OK, now I understand your prior post. When I originally read your post, I understood to replace the original screen with one from a 123 wagon. My bad for speed reading I guess.
