Wiper linkage: Best lubricant?
 

What is best lube for this job? I've read that the sunroof lubricant is recommended.

I was wondering if anyone has used any Molykote product by Dow Corning? They make all kinds of different products.

You mean Molykote 33? It's a silicone lube with thickener best suited for low load applications such as wiper linkages. If you can get some - use it.

That Molykote 33 seem like it would work quite well on the linkage, gears, and piston or whatever it's called. I found what is below.

Do you think that Molykote 33 would be better than sunroof lube, which is actually called a paste?

I'm not that familiar with sunroof lube. I believe it's very expensive. Can you get a product data sheet on the sunroof lube?

I just went ahead and ordered some Molykote 33 medium consistency. I bought the one that's 14.1 oz and costs $38.

As far as the sunroof lube goes, from what I've been able to determine, at least at this time, it's the same thing as the brake paste. In fact when they look it up as sunroof lube the item is described as brake paste or lube.

Over the years I have tried them all the the best luck I have had is simple Plumbers Grease .. Hardware Store item .. little tub for $3/4...will not wash out under any conditions and takes the heat well too..
Not the clear valve stem grease , but the brown stuff.........
