Squeeky suspension 124
I have an '88 300E for about 2 1/2 years. 102K miles runs perfect but I have alot of squeeking from the front and rear suspension. Even when I get out of the car, the rear suspensions squeeks. I'm only 200 lbs so its not my weight. I have raised the car and sprayed the suspension with WD-40 and it will quiet down for a week or so. I do most of my own work. Anyone have any ideas?

i found a squeak in my 300e..... turned out to be idler arm.... i sprayed it with wd-40....this was about a year ago..... figured it would last a couple of weeks... squeak never came back..
finally got the idler arm bushing kit this week.... will do it in a couple of weeks... then get an alignment.... |
If the supporting joint (also called wheel carrier bushing) on the rear axle carrier is shot, then it starts to squeak.
It is located where the rear lower control arm connects to the axle carrier and is basically a ball joint. To suppress the noise temproarily, spray a little WD 40 into the joint. If you have the Mercedes Manual on CD, then refer to file 35-116.pdf in the chassis folder for instructions to replace it. Also, a search on this forum will yield pointers on replacing it.
