2000 500 SL purchased new 9-2000, car manufactured 11-99 now has 1359 miles, 9600 miles to FSS oil change.
Car has been laid up since 11-2000, will start using 4-2001 for upcoming season (live in New England. I anticipate 5-6K mile per driving season and plan to do annual oil change with Mobil I 15-50w. Question, what oil came with the car from factory ? Can a change to Mobil synthetic now or is ther a breakin period before switch to syn? I sign literature both ways, 1 OK to go to syn and 2. wait 10-15K before switch to synthetic. MB has recommended synthetic for all FSS since 98 according to dealer, no reference in manual. Any comments?? |
