Did a stupid thing!!

While changing the oil on my 85 300D I broke the heater hose that runs next to the oil filter canister. I may have had a small amount of coolant get into the canister. If this happened, would it do any damage?

How much is a small amount? A quart? or much less? If we are talking two or three tablespoons it will probably burn off pretty quickly if you take the car out. If it is more just drain from the oil pan again.

I believe I would change the oil again. If there is coolant in the oil, the oil will have a frothy appearance like whipped chocolate milk. If there is a lot of coolant in the oil, you might have to change it a couple times as about 10% of the oil still remains after draining.

I would change the oil first. Leave the drain in the oil pan open and pour some oil in the fuel canister to try and flush it out. Also fill it, run it, and empty it.

Glycol as murder on bearings. Drain everything you can out the pan and refill again with new oil run that for a few minutes and then drain that. If you run it long enough to see that the oil turn milky you have already done damage to bearings. Glycol+internal engine parts= damage.
