Any member have an idea of the above vehicle which is van-like MPV (Boxy) 7-Seater? It sports a V230-4 Cylinder Engine with 4-speed automatic transmission. Please advise?

What is it exactly that you want to know?

The V230 is the "saloon" version of the mini van called VITO. The V230 has more luxury seats and dash as the VITO, has a 4-cylinder petrol engine in the front (the engine is placed in the wide (or however it is called), not in the length). The automatic transmission runs fairly good...

So, What exactly do you want to know?

VITO 7-Seater

Hi MBenz! Thanks for responding. I am seriously considering getting a Vito V230 for my Events & Logistics Business. Any infomation regarding the model in question will be very helpful to my evaluation and decision to purchase.

Question? Is the V230 engine same one as the W124 E230 engine. This one sports a 4valve per cylinder! If the same then parts will be readily available. Also this Vito Van have an additional Pneumatic rear suspension for ride comfort. Is it reliable?

Is it true that the model will be replaced by a 2002 E-Class
Van? And any infomation i may have left out will be appreciated?

Thanks and regards.

We have a lot of these vans on the road and I must say that they are quiet fun to drive. The parking brake pedal is too high which will cause some occasional kicking against the dash. The manual shifted version sometimes hurt my fingers while shifting in fifth gear and my right knee has some space-trouble with the transmission-wobble in the dash. Besides that the van is nice to drive.

The engine is different to that of all MB models. The engine is not installed in the length (as in all MB models), but is installed in the width (90 degrees rotated). The V230 has a 2,3 liter engine and there are 2,3 (turbo) diesels available for this vehicle as well.
Until now I have not heard of any overwhelming problems with the rear suspension and I know nothing about a 2002 E class replacement.

Any other questions?

greetingz,

Vito 7-Seater

Thanks MBenz,

Your input is helpful in my decision and in the process of confirming one unit with V-230 engine petrol driven. These ones comes with full options like central locking, A/C front n rear evaporators, Full leather seats and rear 5 seats are interchangeable fully foldable/ unidirectional, all Disc brakes, ABS, Dual Airbags and more the list goes on.
Love the CDI engines but not allowed as a passenger vehicle but commercial vans have the CDI engines.
By the way although the engine is Horizontal as opposed to inline with those of Passenger cars aren't the engine the same in some sorts. Like interchangeable parts as in part for part.
Thanks again and Best Regards.

The V class is a rather complete van; that is true. Personally I like the design of it although it looks a lot like the Vito.

I don't know exactly about the 230 Petrol engine, but the diesel versions are all different from what mercedes uses in their other models, so I can imagine that the V230 is different as well. Some parts will be interchangeable, but most of the parts will be specially produced for the V class...

greetingz,
