Idle Emissions and Shake '86 300E
Help! This past weekend I took my 1986 300E to the DMV for inspection and registration and failed as a result of my Idling emissions (both HC and CO) being too high. What might this be a result of? Can it be easily (or inexpensively) corrected? Might it have anything to do with the fact that my engine (and as a result car) wobbles while idling? Is an Idling rate of about 7000 rpm about normal?
Thanks for any help that y'all might have out there.... |
Having a good running engine(ignition & compression) is very important...making sure that the O2 sensor is functioning is also necessary.

Consider Doc words. What he's saying is it could be a million things. Fuel, compression; ignition. This won't help your low numbers, but also look at the condition of your motor mounts. When they get tired, the engine can/will shake. The inspector saw/felt this; then flunked the car. |
