89 300te
Just picked up a TE with a 100,000 miles on it, new ac, radiator, alternator seems to be in pretty good shape. I have a few questions, the original becker radio has a failure of the right channel, how do I get the radio out, what kind of maintenance or inspections are necessary for the rear suspension, is it too late to start using synthetic oil,( I used syn in my C230 ran 230,000 miles without a problem until a 16 year old decided to use my rearend to help her stop)
Have a slight kick sometimes between 3rd and 4th gear, previous owner told me modualtor was replaced, how can I tell, where is it, can it be adjusted, fluid looks and smells clean. Anything else I need to check , change, adjust or watch???? Drove home 900 miles and 250 miles after I picked up the car alternator went out, lucky Freds Truck repair was able to get a replacement from Advance Auto Parts and had me back on the road the following morning Any info, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

You need to remove the ashtray to remove the radio..many times on that radio that type of problem is the fader switch.
If the engine is solid then changing the oil type shouldn't hurt...But regular oil changes at 5K with non-synthetic will do just fine.
