Hi all,
About 3 weeks ago I had a problem where the car would not start and this caused the battery to go completely flat hence I had to have the car transported home, I then replaced the battery and the spark plugs and the car seemed to be fine, I then went on holiday to the Windy City and I had someone start my car everyday, on my return on Monday I also started the car and it was fine. The problem occured on Tuesday morning when leaving for work the car would not start, that evening I had a callout mechanic have a look and he told me that the car has no spark and no fuel and thinks as there is no fuel cut out switch on this model that it is either the crankshaft sensor or the alarm that is playing up. Any help on this problem will be much appreciated. TIA Bobby 1993 320ce 24v (Carat Duchatelet) 80K Miles |

Bobby:
Do you have any power at all - does the starter turn over but not start the engine, and do the headlamps work? If yes, the problem may also be a starter motor or solenoid or wire. If no, the problem could be battery cables, a defective new battery, or a short in another circuit or electrical item. See the following thread for one example of a similar problem. Finding a voltage drain Good luck, and let us know what works!

Be sure that the overvoltage relay is OK and new. I would replace it now.
It is located behind the battery behind the plastic panel. IT is silver with a fuse in the top. We sell them in fastlane.

Please Help!
Hi,
The car does try to start but just will not fire up, also the headlights are fine. I will change the OV relay next and go from there but could this be the cause of having no spark and no fuel. Again any help will be appreciated. TIA Bobby 1993 320ce 24V (Carat Duchatelet) 80K Miles |

OV Relay
Hi all,
The car is now ok there seemed to be condensation in the brain according to the mechanic, but on Benzmac's advice I would like to change the OV Relay the one fitted at the moment is 540-52-45, but I have also been given another part number 540-67-45, and have been told that this is an updated one. Which one is better for my car and what are the differences the one I have at the moment has 1 fuse on top any help on this matter will be appreciated. Bobby,
The 2nd one is the updated one, 540-67-45. Order it through partsshop. I got mine here, and it's cheaper here than anywhere else. And if you get it within 1/2 an hour shipping is free!! (until tonight at midnight... 35 more minutes!)

The 52 45 was made in Austria, the 67 45 in Hungary. I have heard that the problem with the 52 was an internal ground circuit problem. It made for intermittant operation. I replace all that I see.
