Hi all!

I'm experiencing a problem with my driver side window. It's very slow and sluggish. It feels/sounds like it's worst when the window is half way down (or up), then it's sliding easier again. Is this a common problem on coupés (CE, SL). Is there something I can do about it?? I was thinking about the rubber strip around the door and window. Can I treat it with something to make it more slippery/smooth?? Could that be a sollution??

Help me out here!

Common

Sluggish windows are a common problem on lots of cars. To fix the problem, you'll need to remove the door panel, and vapor barrier to gain access to the window mechanisms. Assuming there is no problem with the motor (and it doesn't sound like there is), you simply need to lubricate the window guides with some graphite, or lithium grease. When reassemblying, make sure that you get a good tight seal back on the vapor barrier. This will help prevent any leaks into the passenger compartment.

emilo,
I second the suggestion given by Mikey. You probably need to lubricate the moving parts/guidance’s inside the door. Doing anything about the rubber strip around the door and window will not help you that much.

As a quickie fix, my mechanic told me to spray silicone spray in the rubber track around the window. I lowered the windows, sprayed the rubber groove where the window travels, and now my windows are moving at twice the speed. I didn't have to to take the doors apart.

I also put some on the rubber piece at the bottom of the window that acts as a squeegee when the window goes down. Had to clean the window a couple of times afterwards, but the drag on the window has been reduced.
