My 1988 190e tag says that the airbag's life was until 1988. Should I have the airbad removed or deactivated? Is there a danger of this thing going off while I am driving?
On an unrelated question, I am about to order engine mounts, tranny mount & brake wear sensors to be put in on some saturday. Since I am working on the car, can you recomend some cheap easy to install parts that I might as well change out as long as I am working on it? The car has 173,000 miles, 60,000 miles since I bought it 3 years ago. Thanks in advance |
oops, meant to say airbag life untill 1998

There was a post about this some time back. They were unsure of the life of the airbags at first, so they gave it 10 years, now they believe they will hold up for 15 years before a replacement/fix is required. I can't be sure though, but I think you are fine. Other members will surely help with this!

I too have read that MB had put out a service bulletin about 10 being changed to 15.

MB extended the "KNOWN" useful life of SRS air bags to 15 years & that is for all US MB's from 1984. Yours will should be good for 2-3 more years!

Glad to hear that
That is good news, thanks
