I am driving a '91 W124....had my wheels balanced and did some testing on the road....was pushing the engine around 110 km for a couple of miles...when I park my car at the carpark...upon getting out...there was a strong smell of gasoline lingering in the air....can someone please advice what causes these gasoline smell..initially I thought it was due to a particular brand.....could smell the gasoline each time I park my car.I have check all possible areas such petrol pipes,pumps and others...but nothing....would appreciate some help here...thanks.

I would first check to see if your engine has had too much of a rich fuel mixture as that is the most likely source of where the smell is coming from.

From then on, do visual checks for petrol leaks from the tank to the engine ...
