1999 e 320, no codes present, local mechanic said there is a way to cancel idiot light without taking to a shop. If so, does anyone know?

THE LIGHT IS ONLY AT INITIAL START UP, A OPEN END WRENCH GRAPHIC APPEARS WITH MESSAGE "SERVICE DUE NOW" iT IS NOT "CHECK ENGINE"

Ssssure you can buy or borrow a scanner so you can read and erase the code yourself........

If it's just the service due light, the reset procedure is in the owner's manual and can be done without a scanner.

I am assuming he means a "Check Engine" light.
