New compressor won't engage

Well.... i am frustrated and out some money right now...

i replaced the compressor, drier, expansion valve and blew out my lines after my previous compressor froze.

i really don't have the equipment to pull vacuum...so i took it in today to have this done and have refrigerant put in.

This wouldn't jump start the compressor....so they said we are going to do some diagnostics... they tell me it was the klima...well they didn't say that put that's the part... so i came home and switched out klimas with the one in my son's car and the spare we have ... no luck...

this is the first time i have taken my car to a mechanic in years...and the mechanic failed me.... i will take it back tomorrow and see if they have any other ideas....

i am beginning to wonder if my new compressor is bad....very frustrating as i have gone the last 10 weeks without a/c on the 1989CE.

btw...they charged an arm and a leg to pull vacuum and put in refrigerant... i don't know how people can afford mechanics.

do the two klima relays have the same part number? have you tried to bridge the pressure sensor on the receiver dryer? have you phsically inspected the plug connector at the compressor? have you tried bridging the pins compressor relay?

if you remove the klima & use a jumper wire between circuit 15(power) & 87(compressor) the compressor has to run....

Those circuits are marked on the relay..& are marked 5 & 7 on the electrical connector.

That test will allow you to decide if the compressor is good or if you are having "klima" control problems.

I figure doing the jumper wire is my next test.....

i also am wondering if there is a wiring problem at the new compressor.

While I am good and unscewing and unbolting.... electrical is very foreign to me... but I will give it a shot.

part numbers on the klimas are the same.... they are the same car except one is a coupe.... he now has my "klima" running in his... and i have his installed in mine.

Could I purchase the "jumper" wire at Radio Shack?

The wire just needs to make good contact in both connectors.."bananna" ends or alligator clips will suffice.

just to keep everyone posted...

my a/c is working again... there was a loose connection to the compressor...

howerver, now more problems.... the dye has detected a hairline crack on the back of the compressor....

can i seel it from the back side? it is probably an inch long... i was wondering if i could mix up some epoxy and put it on there, effectively sealing the leak...

i am waiting to here from the company that i purchased the compressor from.... no i didn't buy it here, where i usually get my stuff...

...long story there...
