UnwiredTools Product Announcement

UnwiredTools is pleased to announce the availability of our new UTBR Blower Boost Regulator products for Mercedes Benz vehicles. This product replaces the blower regulator on Mercedes 140 and 210 chassis models. The UTBR-140™ and UTBR-210™ are drop-in replacements for the OEM versions. The UTBR are much more efficient and run cooler than the OEM part which means better reliability. Both versions provide a full 12V to the blower when set to maximum which increases the airflow by about 20%. This increase is a welcome upgrade to the A/C systems in hot climates.

The UTBR210™ version is intended to replace the troublesome early (1996 through 1998) 210 chassis blower regulators. The OEM replacement also requires the replacement of the blower, blower housing, filter, and cover. The UTBR-210 uses the stock blower and housing, saving hundreds of dollars in un-needed replacement parts.

I have a few questions about this product.

Is that an accurate picture of the regulator? It does not look like the wires would reach to the side of the box from where the regulator mounts.

Second, what is the suggested list price of this unit? That information does not seem to be present on the site.

UnwiredTools UTBR

Hi Matt

Yes, the wires will reach - the picture is actually a sample with shorter wires, thanks for pointing that out - we need to update the photos on the website.

The MSRP on these products are:

UTBR140 $219

UTBR210 $329

I would hesitate to install a device that puts more voltage to a device than it was designed for. Might work, might not. You might burn up the wiring harness. Ever seen that happen?

Overall, sound like a very good solution, but this quote doesn't make sense to me.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always thought that the faster the air moves through the evaporator, the less chance it has to cool. Therefore, the A/C would actually be less effective when the climate control commands a high speed setting for the blower motor. The increase in airflow however, is obvious..

The motor will easily take much higher voltage without any problem. In addition, these devices are simply PWM, pulse width modulation, devices which chop the supply in various duty cycles to achieve different motor speeds.

Are you going to make a replacement for the W124?

There are a lot of w124's out there. Have you considered making a replacement for this system, too?
Thanks,
Lee

Installed product

I have a 1997 e320 and bought this vehicle with it only blowing on low. I got a good deal on the car because of this problem. Qoute was $1200 to fix at Scottsdale mercedes...in arizona.

After the install my wife noted how hard the air blows compared to a 2004 Bmw we have. I would suggest this part upgrade. On another note I did find a place that makes the oem unit and sells it new/remanufactured. For the price difference I am glad I went with this part.

Thanks Phil!!
