Did not where to post this so I also posted in wheels/tires. Have a 89 560 SEC and while balancing tire(by myself) I noticed my front lugs are stripped. I rethreaded and 4 are Ok and 1 is shot. I have 16x8's with spacers up front. My lugnuts are 3.5 inches long so... Where are the holes, on a hub or the rotor itself. If threads are good on other side I assume my lugs are the right lenght but not sure. I want to buy new lugnuts and the part that they bolt to. What do I need? I will order from here. Thanks, Nick

Unfortunately you will have to replace the hub, or at least that is what I would do. A good used one will work. The hub has 10 threaded holes in it. Five for the lug bolts and five that secure the rotor to the backside of the hub.

Ok that is what the parts dept. here said as well except the only show a rear hub, not front. Don't care what part, just need to know what part so I canorder it NOW.

On a part for a car that is as critical as a front hub, especially on a heavier one as a 560SEC, a new or used hub should replace the damaged one. Don't even think of a helicoil etc when four of the five are bad. Life is too valuable to risk on a few dollars for a hub, true? OK to fix on trunk hinges, door hinge, center console etc but NOT a front hub.

Bigshot said he had only one bolt hole that the thread was stripped, so:

I would try the Heli Coil by installing it and really torquing it tight. If that didn't pull the coil out of the hub, the repair would be OK. However, if a used one was available at a reasonable price, it would probably be a better repair.

I always put a dab of Antisieze compound on the bolt threads. The bolts always come out easy and never strip.

BUT Bigshot said he 'rethreaded' four and they appeared to be OK with the fifth not up to par. So how good are the four that were corrected and were they torque checked? I still believe in replacing the hub as it's too much of a risk to himself, his family and others who may be near when the wheel decides to roll in an unintentional direction.
