trunk lock
I have posted this also on diesel discussion, so I aplogize if it is redundant, but another person on the forum suggested I also post this question here. Thanks.
Dan My car's trunk lock hasn't worked since before I owned it. Today I was messing with the vacuum locking system (which I will put another post out asking for help with) but in the process I used my mitivac to look for leaks and I inadvertently locked my trunk (with the vacuum from the mitivac) and the gas tank. I then shut the trunk lid unknowingly. Keep in mind, my vacuum pump is disconnected. My trunk will not open with any of the keys I have (and never would). So now I cannot get into the trunk or into my diesel tank. I am hopeful that the lock can be picked by me (and I am inexperienced at such things) or by a lock smith. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed to open my trunk ? Thanks. Dan '84 300 SD |

If you locked it with the mighty vac so be it, turn the key to 90 degrees and push the button it should unlock manually. The system on those cars used a vacuum source. unless you disconnected that line, the lines hould be in parrallel.(all tied together rather than individual !5 years ince I had a 300 TD

Try applying pressure to thast same line, if it's a 1-line system the pump either applies pressure or vacuum, depending on if the system wants to lock or unlock. If it's a 2 line system it just applies vacuum to either the red or green line (red is lock, green is unlock). Hopefully you can unlock it in the same manner you locked it. IIRC I did the same thing and just unlocked it using my mouth to apply the pressure.
