w140 Automatic transmission problem
I have a 95' S350D that stopped shifting well. It Shifted into 1,2,3 but not to 4th and it is not going into 4 even after redline of tachometer.
Can anyone help what to do? Thank you. |
That is a mechanical hydraulic transmission..therefore no electronics to cause problems. Most likely a K-2 clutch pack problem & possibly a valve body problem.
Either way it is internal. |
TRY SHIFTING MANUALLY AND REPLY WITH THE RESULTS(THE OTHER GUY IS PROBABLY RIGHT,BUT THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE AN EXTERNAL INFLUENCE IS THE CAUSE..I.E BOWDEN CABLE:fork_off:

I'd go with "THE OTHER GUY" lol

Drive the car at about 45 to 50 MPH, back off the gas pedal and move the shifter lever to neutral, then step on the gas and at the same time move the lever to drive, if the transmission shifts into 4th gear, it’s a struck valve in the valve body.
