What's the best way to reattach the wood pull from the ashtray.
Thanks
Steve

Benz uses a double sided tape, but we use a light weight epoxy to glue the wood back on.

I picked up some 3M Adhesive Glue when the wood pulled off on my W126. Followed instructions on the tube and haven't had a problem.

I used weather strip adhesive on mine. Just be sure to get the top of the wood under the metal strip at the top of the ashtray.

I used 3M Emblem and Trim Adhesive on mine. I tried to get the wood under that chrome strip, but it seemed to be too thick to fit properly. I used a couple dozen different sized binder clips (those hinged "paper clips") to hold the wood/aluminum "sandwich" together overnight while the glue set up, and polished and waxed it with Meguiar's #7 and then #26. It hasn't come apart since, but I do leave the ashtray open now, since I keep a DC voltmeter plugged into the cig lighter.

If any of my wood splits or comes off again I might use super glue gel. My only fear is that it might be too strong.

I tried super glue on my 300SD. Forget it! It dries too fast (I almost glued myself to the dash)and the gel isn't thick enough to fill the voids.

I used two sided tape by 3M and it worked fine.

Thanks for the advice. I cleaned it off, and used a urethane glue from Elmers the stuff expands as it dries, so filled the voids.
Solid as a rock now.
Take care,
Steve
