Locked 300e ignition

Well the ignition is locked tight. after reading post. They say if i can,T turn ignition to position 1 then ill have to drill it out.. Ican get key in but it wont turn, everone 1 here says iam screwed, well i tried to drill it out But i can even get the bit to even scrath the darn thing never mind drill it out. The casing on the Tumbler spins around can even get the bit to bite. So is there some speacial Bit i need ,has anyone ever done this on a 300E. its not on the colume its on the dash. i took everything off so the lock is exposed. But Hey i cant even cut into it. What should i do.

You are going to need a HSS grade drill bit. Drill at an angle to the 2 o'clock position slanting over the 7 o'clock position.

Ignition lock

Not sure if you've already done this but...Try turning the steering wheel hard left, right, back and forth while trying to turn the key at the same time. Also check the tension on the cable from the ign. lock to the shifter.

Good luck,
Acky

I don't know what kind of drill you're using; but if it doesn't have a 1/2" chuck I'd try that. In other words a drill with lots of torque that turns slowly.

300e

you are now going to have to take the whole steering lock assembly out of the steering column and carefully remove the plug at the rear of the lock cylinder.if you do this and or need help to do it call me.
