Floppy floor mat flap
Driver's floor mat has a flap on the left side that is supposed to cover the dead pedal. But nothing holds it up, so I'm always kicking it around. What was there originally to hold it in place?

Maybe mat is tired?
Perhaps the flap depended on its original stiffness to stay in place. That's the way it is on my W210. If there is carpet benind the mat, maybe some velcro attached to the rear of the flap wpuld hold it in place but still allow the mat to be removed for cleaning, etc.

The floor mat is a bit past its prime. The dead pedal is molded plastic so its not 'grippy'. I think even a new mat would slip and slide around without some means of attachment. The velcro is a good idea tho.

raymr, I suspect the correct floormat for your car wouldn't have the flap and leave the dead pedal exposed. The driver's side floormat for our 300CE is made that way. Check with your local MB dealer's Parts Department for the configuration of a new floormat.

I agree, my floormat doesn't cover the dead pedal either. It's the one that originally came with the car.

OK, makes sense. Thanks guys.

raymr...mine has the flap and I would swear that is it original based on the car's history. Mine does the same thing ---doesn't flip over but just curves to the right off the dead man pedal...yes can drive you nuts. Velcro sounds like a good idea.

This one might be original. Knowing my dad, it probably is. :) I just cut the flap off and its much better.

Same problem here. I just tucked the flap underneath the mat.
