Throttle Cable Adjustment

1989 300E

Just looked under the air cleaner and it appears that the throttle cable has quite a bit of slack to it. How tight or snug should this cable be ? Which of the nylon bits should I adjust, there are so many lever arms in there that I don't want to mess with other functions of the throttle cable.
