Is there a preferred method of installing valve cover gaskets to keep them from leaking? I've done mine a couple times and found for sure that they cant be adjusted after they've been run, they have to be replaced. Seems to fix the problem but then they leak again. It's never the same place, either.

More than likely you are over-tightning the bolts causing the valve cover to flex. The torque is VERY light, just enough to compress the NEW copper washers a little.

newbie 420SEL owner here. the left Valve cover gasket on mine began leaking a few days ago, i obtained the replacement gasket at my local dealer and learned about the fuel lines over the left cover and how to do deal with them. My question is can I reuse the old copper crush washers when replacing the valve cover gasket?
