Brake Fluid (To change or not to change that is the ?)
 

Im thinkin of doing my own Brake fluid change on my 2002 C230Kompress coupel 6spd 2.3 L. But I have heard that I have to bleed my clutch too if I do my brake fluid change...is that true????
If it is I guess Im better off taking it to MB so they can do the job right.

If your clutch is hydraulic, it could be recommended that you change the fluid at the same interval for the same reason you change brake fluid...it absorbs moisture.
If you're not experienced in working on brakes, then by all means, let a pro do it.

I think the clutch and brakes share the same fluid. If so, both would have to be bled.

IMHO.

I would do both, for fear of cross-contamination. If the fluid is flushed at
regular intervals the hydraulics will thank you with a very long life. Not to mention that as the fluid becomes old the boiling point is reduced severly. It won't affect the brakes in average driving, but it may boil when you need your brakes the most, causing the pedal to sink to the floor as your heart skips a few beats. Plus those expensive abs components don't loike dirty brake fluid. Just my .02.

i just did a brake fluid flush on my w203 with auto trans. Actually I think I firmed up the pedal a bit by doing the change - supposedly dealer had done a change a while back but just to be certain i did it again.

make sure you have a good fender cover that is spill proof and a garden hose ready for action if brake fluid gets on ANY painted surfaces.

I had gone to HOME DEPOT and aquired a couple feet each of different clear hoses that I though's inner diameter would match bleeder nipple.

The hose that fit I attached one end to nipple and other into clear water bottle filled with old brake fluid. I only closed the bleeder when there were no more bubbles rising through old fluid in bottle.

I used a Speedi Bleed and had a spare bottle of mercedes brake fluid on stand buy. I had some pro.

I was meaning to say I had some problems with fluid leaking through the speedi-bleed reservoir adapter, so it was useful to have the spare brake fluid

Use this device to bleed your brakes. Buy fresh brake fluid, do not use old or an already opened bottle because brake fluid is hydroscopic, it absorbes water.

When changing fluid if you can go to Racing Blue, or Red Synthetic (I think DOT 4 or higher) you can verify that all the fluid has been changed, and see the color change as a visual aide.

Just an added bonus from working on our own Porsche 928's. Looks like it's almost time to do the brakes on the 500 SEL.

Do a search on power bleeding and you will find a post on building the pressure bleeder for cheap and it will automagicaly leave the MC fluid at the proper level.
If I were you ... I'm assuming a few things here, I'd spray the bleeders with PB Blaster for a couple days before trying to loosen the bleeders. This is an easy job and you will learn a few things like looking at the underside of the car ... I once found a rock wedged between the frame and a brake line! I'd rate the difficulty at 1.5 the difficulty of an oil change.
