Unhappy Springs OEM, PLease!!!

Greetings All....

Ok don't laugh or make curel comments, but I want to put my '00 E55 back to its orginal height and thus it's ride quality. So I'm looking for good price for OEM Springs. Any Help?
Just can't see why anyone would want these cars to ride like trucks. The "Improved Handeling" isn't worth it for my everyday routes, speed limits, and traffic.

Also any Suggestions on Getting the Rattling out of the Moon Roof? This problem is apperent when fully closed or fully opened, never in the "Vent" position.

Thanks

I owned an '01 E55 and agree that for every day driving on most US roads the ride can be harsh. I believe the primary "culprits" are stiff bushings and the rear shocks. Since replacing the bushings with softer ones would be more expensive and would probably hurt the resale value of your car, you might consider swapping the rear shocks for something less stiff or at least with adjustable damping. I don't know if the sport suspension option uses the same springs, bushings and shocks as the E55 or not. If it doesn't, you might consider a set of rear shocks for the sport suspension. If they are the same, try a set of KONI's instead. Mark

Thanks Mark for the advice. So that I understand fully, it is the shocks and not the lowered(lowering) springs that is causing the Harsh, ridget and thud, ride correct?
I hope this is the case because it would save some $$$ to simply replace the shocks.... Thanks again

It is a combination of high rate springs, stiff bushings, large anti-sway bars and firm shocks that create the buckboard ride. In my opinion, the rear shocks are too firm and cause a large percentage of the harsh ride. The front shocks are also firm but seem to be closer to the "correct" (if you will) damping rate. Just my opinion. I now own an '01 E320 wagon that I have lowered (see the details at my gallery page on this site). I am happy with the ride/handling trade off with this car but keep in mind that my wagon has rear self leveling suspension and stock (not Sport or AMG) bushings. Mark
