As many of you know, I installed a GM 4.3L V6 in my '82 300D. (For details, see my page at: http://pages.prodigy.net/rwooldridge/mercedes.htm) Well, the conversion has been running just great, absolutely no problems with the engine/transmission exchange, but I do have one little problem that I would like to deal with - now the front of the vehicle sits an inch or two higher than the rear due to the lighter weight of the engine, and my wife thinks it looks funny that way. What do you folks think would be the best way to lower the front of the car? I don't like the idea of cutting a coil or heating a coil, as that might affect the excellent ride characteristics the car has. I'm wondering if there are springs available that are designed for less weight than the ones used for the turbo diesel?
Thanks in advance for your help! Richard Wooldridge '82 300D/4.3LV6 '74 280C '77 Jag XJ6 '77 280Z 2+2 |

Great
Richard,
great job! And difficult too! There's a lot of reading to do. Can't help re lowering the front. When you enter a url, make sure that nothing is NEXT to the beginning or end, since it's taken as part of the address. Specifically, the ")" causes the page address to bomb. |

Richard,
There are a lot of different original MB springs for the W123. You can try to get a set of front springs from a 240D or from a petrol engine-d W123. The springs will have a slightly smaller diameter. greetingz,
