I have a 1992 400e without ASR.

Can someone please provide me with the transmission gear ratios? I know the differential is 2.24:1, but I need to know the individual transmission gear ratios.

Thanks!

Gilly,

Thanks for the info. It looks like the 400e has the same transmission ratios as a 500e then.

As far as the rear differential ratio, I have seen 2.24:1 listed here a number of times. Just wondering, where did you get these figures?

Thanks again!

David: MB gave me a CD-ROM, it's from Germany, but in English. I'm not a computer kind of guy, this is what it says on the crystal:Millennium Wissen (seems to be the brand name of sorts) The ultimate history of the automobile Mercedes-Benz. Below this says The multimedia encyclopedia of all types and models. It is a 2 disc set, the one I like the most is the one I got the info from for you, The disc simply says "The ultimate history of the automobile Mercedes-Benz, along with the Millenium Wissen. The second one says"Highlights of Automotive Technology Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, doesn't have the Millennium Wissen logo on it. Also came with some sort of card that needs to be mailed to Munich, looks like a questionaire, it's all in German though. The first disc has a very impressive amount of info on most any MB ever made, including pre-merger (uh, that's Daimler and Benz, not Chrysler). That's the disc where I got the info on the 400E, I could just as easily compare it to a 500E if you want, everything is quite simple to find........Gilly

Gilly,
How did you get the disc? HOw much was it? When does the info stop? (what year, i mean.)

Gilly 04-15-2001 10:47 PM

David: I got it for free, the service manager walked up and said "Here, you can have this, I don't want it". It was still shrink-wrapped. I didn't think too much of it at the time, glad I took the time to explore what it was. I have no idea where he got it from, I could ask if you want. I just got some quick items from off the first disc only, I haven't researched what is all in the second disc yet. As far as the newest info, it covers up to the 220 S-class and 215 chassis CL-class, including info on the M137 Vee 12. It has info on all chassis made, including the V-Class, A-Class, and MCC "SMART" city-coupes. I looked backwards a little, it even has info on experimental cars such as the C112, F100,, and F200. I didn't see info on the Lifejet, which is a disappointment for me, boy I was hot on that car, er bike, er whateverthehellitwas!!! It has info on cars, commercial vehicles, and aero-engines, also a Mercedes-Benz timeline, MAN, lots of other info, too, and this is only disc 1! No info on the 203 Chassis C-class, so it ends just before that. Now, it sounds like you and others may be interested in these, the most useful info I can give you is that the discs seem to be made/distributed or whatever by "United Soft Media", there is an address on the crystal:WWW.USM.De Give that a try, I can try it myself and see if I spot anything. I can ask my boss if he remembers how he got it/who gave it to him.....Gilly

Wow, I'd love to get my hands on one of those!! If you can get more info, I'd appreciate it! Thanks.

Gilly 04-16-2001 12:02 AM

David: Give me a couple days, I sent an email to United Soft Media. I went to their website, it is almost all in German. I did find the disc set, the cover is mostly identical to mine, except again the German. The price was something like 80 DM. If you want to see it, go to the http://www.usm.de address I gave you, then get into the "search" area at the top of the screen, delete what they have in the search field and enter "Mercedes", it will take you to the page that shows it, the description text is all in German though, but there is a picture of it, that's the one. Anyways, I did the "Kontakt" thing asking if they have info on the english version. Since then (just now, as a matter of fact) I found the "model number" for the one you want, it is 3-8032-8979-3. I'll see what info I can get for you in regards to this.....Gilly
