Central locking system stopped working and everything was working fine up to this point. Here are my observations:

1) Central locking does not function with remote. However, the windows do go up/down. The parking lights flash accordingly (once for unlocked, three times for locked). Its only the locks that do not function.

2) The switch on the dash does not lock / unlock the doors. All power window switches work properly.

3) The switch to drop the rear head restraints is not functioning (it worked fine last week).

4) Using the key to manually close the door from the driver's side only closes the drivers door. However, it raises / lowers the windows accordingly.

I've checked all the fuses (including the one's in the trunk) and none have been tripped. I am baffled and would appreciate any input. The event that started all this was my attempt to turn the trunk lock to the position that allows the trunk to remain locked even with the rest of the car unlocked. All of a sudden the Central Locking System started acting as I described.

PSE vacumn pump which controls and runs all the things that arent working for you is at fault then....its located in the right trunk area on the wall...a black box

Priced pump at the dealer $1,200 CAD. Are there further diagnostics I can do to sort this problem out? Or do these pumps die all of a sudden without warning?

Problem solved!

The motor that runs the PSE Pump was dead. My indy was able to fit a motor from a W201 without any problem. You can definitely hear the motor when activating the power locks. I guess the new designs are quieter. However, for an $80 part, I can live with 2 seconds of buzz.
