I have a 96 S420, I was lookin at a s500 that has rear power seats. Which also has the remote power fold up/down headrest. I will be installin some screen on the rear headrest and would like to have remote up/down rear headrest.
Is there anyway to incorporate this from another s-class which has powere rear seats?

Thanks

Yes, but you are looking at replacing the whole seat. The car is already pre-wired for it, but the seat is completely different. I'm not too sure if the bottom is the same. It might be, but the back is different because the headrest comes out of the seat.
I've changed a window regulator once on a S420 and I've seen the pre-wired plug for the seat adjustment.
Unless you can find a wrecked 140 with seat adjustment and same interior color this really isn't worth the money.

But there must be away to get it motoized like the same way.
On my car there is a button that i can press on the center concole that will put down the rear head rest. is there anyway to put a motor that could pull it up and lock into position?

Thanks

As far as I know the 140s with the electric headrest can't drop back for improved visibility. At least the earlier models couldn't. I'm not too sure if they changed it later on. I've seen a 93 600SEL and the headrests were part of the rear seat and they only moved up a down like the ones in the front.

Pulling down the rear head rests in a benz is normally partly electrical and partly vacuum controlled. If you want to change that into a remote putting-them-up system, you probably have to change the complete system...I have never seen the remote up system, but I can imagine that it is electrical controlled (it is hard to believe that mercedes has a feature to pop up the rear head rests with the normal vacuum pods that are used in almost all the models.

...don't know anything about the W140...greetingz,

I agree. All of the models use headrest that lock into place by pulling them up. Once you press the headrest button it sends a signal to the solenoid that vacuums out the pods, which pull the locking pins, and the headrests drop.
I'm not aware of an electrical system in the 140s that raises them or knocks them down automatically. I know the 220 and 215 have a system that works like that.
