For the first time today my 1985 190e began to react slowly when moving from a dead stop. When I press on the accelerator it acts as though it's not getting enough fuel. It is more prevalent with the Air Conditioner on. I have to pump the accelerator to get it to move. Once moving the car seems to run fine. It acts as though the cable to the throttle isn't tight enough, but checked that and it seemed OK.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Brian 1985 190e 1990 BMW 325i |
Are you still experiencing this problem?

Problem solved
YMSIN, thanks for the reply. Problem has been solved. It turns out that one of the spark plug wires had somehow worked itself loose from the spark plug. It was attached to the plug, but not snug enough to create an adequate spark. It accelerated fine after that.
Thanks again. Brian |
*phew*
Thats excellent. Was really trying to piece the air-cond bit and how it was involved in this little mystery. Actually, I'm still wondering how come it is more prevalent with the air conditioner on. |
YSMIN, I suspect that since the AC draws more current it's imperative that a full electrical output from the engine is necessary (i.e. full spark from the engine). Just a theory. Thanks for your response. Brian |
