89 260E will not start
i need a few clues to this benz. it turns over but won't fire. i even got the CDs(manual) but it don't give the basics. i pulled all the plugs and had sparks. so i pulled the fuel line coming into the electrohydraulic actuator, got fuel. pulled one of the lines leaving the fuel distributor, no fuel. but there is fuel from the cold start valve. should gas come out of the dist. during cranking? the fuel pump only stays on for a few seconds when you first turn the key. help

I've seen this before, mentioned it to a few people already but no one else has had it:
The bracket inside the distributor cap that holds the rotor can break. If this happens, the rotor might still turn, but not in time at all. So you can check spark and have it. But it's not at the right time and you wouldn't know it's not correct. Need to pull the dist cap and tug on the rotor, see if it's loose or falling off. Gilly
