560 sel quit running and won't start
ok here we go one thing after another. was driving at lunch didn't make a mile and car felt like it was chocking and stoped and now won't start. fuel pump is running getting current to the icv if that matters. is this a fuel pump relay problem?
If the pump is running and fuel is flowing I doubt it is fuel related.
If it were me I would check the crankshaft position sensor...there seem to be quite a few of them going bad lately. I think it is only about $50 and causes the symptoms you describe. |
560sel/no spark
i agree pickup from bell housing they are dropping like flies.
For future reference....
1) Where is this sensor located? 2) I don't see "crankshaft sensor" on Fastlane, is it a dealer part? 3) How does this sensor look like? Luckily my car is running fine *knock on wood*, but if I were to have a problem like this, I'd know where to look. |
ok i agree with the otherr guy. this is new to me. i don't know alot about cars so what and where is this located? but i would love for it to solve my problem. at this point i am very frustrated

Is your 'check engine' light on?
yes the light is on but only when i turn the lights on does the engine light show.
spoke with a mercedes benz shop and they said that the 560 1990 doesn't have a crankshaft position sensor
Find another shop.
http://mb.braingears.com/126_DISC2/program/Engine/107/M117_56/15-510.pdf L5 will do it. Test the on-off ratio usinf pins 2 and 3 of the X-11 socket. More on the engine: http://mb.braingears.com/126_DISC2/program/engine_560SEL.htm You're on disc 2 and click on the 'more' arrow a few times http://mb.braingears.com/126_DISC2/program/matrix.htm |
