Drivers door lock button 94 Cabriolet
Does this happen only on mine? I don't have remote locks. When exiting the drivers seat, the only way to lock the car is to close the door and insert the key to lock. I know I saw other 90 to 95 E 320's where you could depress the lock button and close the door but the button on my car won't go down! Is their anyone out here that knows of a fix? Maybe just some lube? Maybe some special rigging if I remove the door panel? Sure would be nice. Thanks

Hi,
Your car is designed this way to prevent accidental locking of the keys in the car. You may lock any open door except the drivers door. The lock button for the drivers door will only lock if the door is closed. Acky |

Vacuum leak?
Could this be due to a vacuum leak or would that prevent the other doors in the system from locking, too?

Actually it is a well thought out, clever design. MB owners can never accidentally lock their keys in the car.
I suggest installing remote keyless entry for convenience. Just make sure it is wired correctly so that it works in conjunction with the ATA alarm system. Many people have remote entry units installed incorrectly, which interferes with the ATA operation forcing some people to simply disable the alarm (bad useless idea) A keyless entry system should not interfere with or impair any other function. I'm strugling to re-wire my remote unit to incorporate the window close feature with the remote. I will post it when I figure it out. I installed them in my 1990 300E and wifes 92 300E as well. Regards, Acky |
