I totally agree with you. Yes, In Canada the Supreme Court Judges are appointed by the Prime Minister. Worse, is there are no hearings...although last year PM Harper had a minor sham one to make him look like that he is changing things for the better. In Canada, we are worst off than you in the States. We have no Anti-trust legislation. The only thing we have is a competition Act which has no teeth, it is in name only. For example, things like Enron and World Com and Conrad Black, the regulators couldnt do a thing. Even with Microsoft, your Justice Department went after Microsoft and won over anti-trust with them forcing to put Windows on all the computers. Today, the European Commission also upheld an anti-trust decision against Microsoft for a half of billion euros. In Canada, there is no punishment. And if you they invesigate you (virtually no chance) and you get caught (a really low chance here), then the punishment will be very weak if at all. Conrad Black is facing what 15+ years, and the Enron guys got long sentences, if it happened here, the prison terms would be 1-2 years max, and likely no prison at all.
