Mercedes Benz 1991 300se ENGINE PROBLEMS

I recently noticed that on 2 occasion my car shut off while I was driving, then it would not start, after about 30 minutes it suprisingly started again. The second time from a cold start it did not start immediately then withinn a few minutes it started again. Someone mentioned that there maybe a problem with the ignition module, any help or advise would be appreciated.

Do a search on fuel pump relay.

Yeah, that was my first thought. Skip the pump itself, go onto the relay. Lots of info here about that...

We know it has air. Therefore there are 2 things left. Spark and fuel. Have we checked the spark and see that it has a good spark? What about the wires? Are they in good shape? How is the cap and rotor? Mine did that for a bit before it broke down and had to be replaced.

Unplug the fuel pump relay and remove the plastic case. Resolder all the connections, especially the large ones for the bottom pins. Vibration cracks the solder joints causing the joints to heat up and crack more.

The 91 300 SE does not have a fuel pump relay; pump control is incorporated into the MAS control unit.

Check the condition of the cap and rotor first. The oil seal has been known to leak fouling the rotor components.

According to the manual it does, with CIS-E, and anything is possible. The real test is if it's mounted between the firewalls.

Checking the cap and rotor is a great idea. Always check the basics first.
