Hi all. I noticed a coating of mayo like gunk stuck to the oil filler cap when checking about two months ago. I flushed the engine, changed the oil and check it weekly. There is still evidence on the filler cap but no sign on the dipstick. No problems showed up on pressure test but white smoke from exhaust evident.Has never overheated while in my posession and no loss of coolant so far. Mechanic reckons it could be moisture build up in crankcase due to a lot of start/stop journeys I make.

Any observations. Make 260e 1990 103,000 miles

The mayo is emulsified oil caused by water or condensation in the engine. If you are not loosing coolant then check your breathers are not blocked

I think your mechanic is correct. I too would get a bit of this on the dipstick, as most my my driving is in the city.

Regards,
