W126 Air Conditioner Problem

Have 1986 560 SEL, apx 100K. Sometimes AC blows very cold, but at other times it seems to blow ambient temp air and in Texas that can be hot! Replaced Climate Control unit since it sometimes appears to produce the opposite of what is selected (cool blows warm, etc.). Also, air no longer blows as strong out the center vents as it should. Do you think any of the two (I believe) temperature sensors (one in dome light assbly and other in engine compartment) could be the cause?

Thanks.
