Window switch on 124 console

I need to clean or replace my rear window switch on the center console. Can anyone tell me how to remove the switch. I found a great thread on refurbishing the swict once I get it out...but I need some help getting it out.

Thanks, dtimmester

If it's anything like the w123, you need to remove the wood on which it is attached, and push the swith out FROM UNDERNEATH. Don't try to pull it out from the top, or your wood will surely be damaged.

for the early models pull the carpet up out of the center storage tray...
there is a screw that holds the wood consol cover down...
the wood then tilts up and off.

Just to add to the previous post, you need to pull slightly backwards as you lift the wood - don't just lift straight up. You'll see what I mean when you get there...
