filter comments

just got done changing my oil and oil filter first time myself in my mercedes 1994 c280 (always done my own until I bought a mercedes, for the money it was nice to have a qualified mechanic look over everything and it was fun hanging out in his shop) thanks to some help from this forum. how easy! wanted to comment about the filter. I have always had them replaced with a mercedes filter 104 184 09 25. Now I replaced with a mann filter hu 727/1x. really suprised to see the mercedes filter was made in austria and the mann filter was made in germany! Why doesn't the mercedes filter come from germany???

that just tells me I'm better off sticking with a certain manufacturer rather than buying parts direct frommb...

Actually I think MB has different part numbers according to who made the filter. More a decision on the dealer to decide what one he wants to stock.

I purchased two fuel filters from the dealer for the SDL, same box and part number. One filter is black and says made in South Africa, other is silver of German origin. Quality of the South African filter seems better, seems to weigh more.

Austria, Germany is that being just a bit picky? They are just about the same country!

"They all LOOK german to me"

The Austrians are convinced that the almighty created Germans so the planet
would have untermenschen; to make the Austrians shine in comparison.

Uhhhhhh.....my side-marker lights say " Made in Hungary "
NEVER again will I buy another M-B, when all along I assumed it was " Made in Germany ".

Why doesn't parts for American cars get made in America?

Because it's cheaper.
