thanks ray.
good idea. anybody know of a heavier bar too? tom w |
thanks for the link, buck. i checked it out but didnt find anything for my car.

I think the W123 wagon rear bar is thicker. Heard it's almost too thick for the street, but for autocross shouldn't be too much. Should have some nice oversteer.

Rear is the problem, it's skinny as hell.

i wouldnt mind a thicker rear if i could find a limited slip forr the diff first. but without a lsd a thicker rear will cause the inside rear to spin and hurt exit speed from the corners. getting the car to go with it all leaned over is already a problem!
thanks for the ideas though. keep them coming! tom w |
Hrm... have you checked to see if that carrier is the same size as the early W126? I know the early W126 had a smaller rear diff... There could be your LSD.
Issue is, you will have to check lash and preload (no biggie) when you put an LSD into your current case. Obviously I'd install new frictions in there and a preload spring. Maybe shim it some for more initial preload. I'm just not sure how the LSD is setup, it may have to spin to lock too. |
early 126 rears i think are the same as 123.
what 126 came with lsd? i was thinking they only started with the 560s. and the 16valve 190s. 6.3s and 6.9s dont count! tom w |
I found an '84 500SEL witha 2.47:1 and an LSD. It's going into my SD.
My 380SE has one too, and it's a 3.27:1 diff. Found some PDF I had showing it was a 3.27:1 until Sept of '81, when they went to a 2.47:1 |
i could use a 327. are you keeping it?
tom w |
Not sure at this point, I'd really like a 2.47:1 in there but I need to see how the 3.27:1 works. The car will be used mainly city with minimal so the 3.27:1 may work great for traffic. :D
