'89 190E weird electrical (light) problem
 

Since I purchased my 190E about a year and a half ago, some of the instrument lights have not worked. The illumination of the window switches, outside temperature, climate control buttons, etc., has been not existent... until tonight (kind of).

The rear windows have a problem with going down and then refusing to go back up, sometimes for days. My daughter forgets this from time to time and puts them down anyway. Tonight it was raining, so I engaged the child safety window lockout (just in case she forgot again). She did forget and tried to put her window down. The window did not go down, but, as long as she held the button down, all of the previously dark lights came on. As soon as she released the window button, the lights went out again. We then tested it. It only happens when the child lockout is engaged.

Does this give any clue as to what is as to what is wrong with the lights?

Oh... any thoughts on the intermittently working windows would be appreciated as well.
