I am planning on rebuilding all four corners of the suspension system on my "project" 300D. It is my feeling that while I am at it I may as well replace all of the bushings at each corner. I know the ball joints are nearing the end of their useful life and the rubber bushing parts look pretty rough but what will I have achieved by just replacing the ball joints and not the bushings? Has it been the experience of the techs here that it is best to just rebuild the complete suspension? Based on preliminary pricing it looks to be that the material will be around $255 each for the front (I have not priced the rear yet). I suspect that the shocks are original but believe it or not they are still in pretty good condition. They will get replaced as a part of the suspension rebuild.
thanks for suggestions/advice in advance

MB control arms have very durable bushings (with a few exceptions). They do get destroyed by oil leaks though. I would not replace them unless oil soaked or otherwise obviously damaged.

The upper ball joint comes with the upper control arm which comes with its bushing. The stabilizer attaches with a rubber bushing that is cheap and probably a good idea to replace. The lower control arm has two ball joints and only one bushing. The bushing usually is good. The ball joints don't require removing the spring which the bushing would. I would leave it unless the springs are being changed or removed.

In the rear there is little to wear out. The control arm bushings never wear out. The subframe mounts do wear and would be a good idea if collapsed.
