1988 560 SL a/c
Hi,
We have a 1988 Mercedes 560SL. The car wouldn’t start, but this was fixed by replacing the fuel pump relay. However, the a/c compressor then failed to operate. We checked that refrigerant is o.k., the blower works o.k. and we have put in a new a/c relay, but the compressor still fails to switch on. We still wonder if this is related to the fuel pump relay, since the failed nine-pin unit was superseded by a new replacement unit which is now ten-pin. Is there anything else we should have done when replacing the fuel pump relay, or any other part we should check? Thanks Atissa@earthlink.net |

Hmmm I would try to jump the power in/signal (30 & 87?)out sockets for the Klima relay to see if that makes the compressor start, just so you know it's not the compressor itself or the clutch.
Gilly

How did you check the freon if the compressor did not operate? There needs to be a minimum amount in the system before the compressor will engage.

1988 560 SL a/c
Thanks for the notes. I don't know anything about cars. Two different mechanics checked the car for me and the part was sent by the MB dealer and verified by another MB part department. All I know is that the car was serviced few months ago and a/c worked before the part was replaced.
Do you know anyone who could repair the car in Myrtle Beach? |
